- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Alexandra!!
- 29, again, right?
-
- Friday 10/3/03
- An interview with Alexandra was published recently on a French site. The "Interviews" branch of this site provides a link to the original interview posting, and a babelfish translation to English.
- The interview (and other things that I have found on the Web) indicate that Alexandra is now the President of some sort of trade union of French pro tennis players.
- While I really don't know what this means, it certainly seems very impressive, and appropriate.
- (I wish Alexandra was the President of this USA, instead of the current killer, but, whatever....)
- Here's a pic of Alexandra-plus-one looking understandably (and hopefully truly) very happy, as she holds her expanded belly.
- There is, at this site, a pic of Alexandra holding the Trophy after winning the Girls at Roland Garros. Alexandra is 16 in that photo, and very, very beautiful. Yet many pictures, posted on this site, of Alexandra older than 16, show her even more beautiful.
- The most beautiful picture of Alexandra posted at this site may well be this which I am posting tonight.
- That Alexandra wakes up every morning even more beautiful than she was the day before would not surprise me at all.
-
- Wednesday 6/4/03
- Well, Alexandra is not playing at Roland Garros this year at all - not Singles, not Doubles, not Mixed... Oh well...
- And it may be that Alexandra will not play any more matches in 2003... Oh well...
- However, a usually reliable source has an explanation. This source reports that, according to "the number one sport french paper", Alexandra had planned to play Main Draw Roland Garros Doubles with Natalie Tauziat - then: the rabbit died.
- ALEXANDRA IS PREGNANT!
- ALLEZ FUSAI!
- CONGRATULATIONS Alexandra and David!
- Take care of yourself, Alexandra: eat well, and consider finally quitting smoking (harharhar).
- (FusaiFans: check this site regularly for newly posted pics, and even some videos, as well as actual news, and future match results - like from the '04 Roland Garros!)
- (By the way: Well done, Annika!)
-
- Friday 5/16/03
- It looks like Alexandra skipped that ITF thing at Cagnes-Sur-Mer to go cheer at Fed Cup, with a bunch of friends. Here's a pic. (The gang doesn't look real happy - but it is very true that French women have very much to be proud of in tennis! And Alexandra looks even more beautiful than ever....)
- Next for Alexandra is probably Roland Garros - maybe Singles (Qualifying), maybe Doubles, maybe Mixed....
- Most important, of course, is Alexandra's happiness!
- Allez Fusai!
- (By the way: Allez Annika!)
-
- Tuesday 4/22/03
- Well, the Doubles Semi in Budapest, last Saturday, didn't go so well for Fusai/Dhenin - it was the semi-home-team of Mandula/Tatarkova d. Fusai/Dhenin: 6-2, 6-4. Oh well...
- So the #1 seeds d. the #3 seeds: not a shock! Even so: oh well...
- I bet it was SOME FUN for everyone there, including all 4 players, though! HOORAY for that!
- Next for Alexandra might be the 75K ITF Challenger at Cagnes-Sur-Mer, France, with Alexandra in the Qualifying Singles, this coming weekend, and maybe in the Main Draw Doubles, next week (if she wants to play Doubles). MORE FUN for Alexandra, I hope!
- And Alexandra is "due" for a nice string of Singles victories - and another Doubles Title would not be at all odd!
- Allez Fusai!
- (Due to the AWESOME "stuff" of Alexandra at Charleston last year falling off her points, Alexandra's Singles ranking fell from 199 to 275, yesterday, and Doubles fell from 91 to 147. No biggee... Alexandra is Alexandra - rankings don't change that. And rankings can also go up!)
-
- Friday 4/18/03
- This week, Alexandra is at the Tippmix Budapest Grand Prix, a Tier V WTA event, in Budapest, Hungary, Europe - and getting some wins! YEA!
- In 1st Round Qualifying Singles, Alexandra faced local Hungarian Katalin Marosi. Well, this was a loss, with Marosi taking it 6-0, 7-5. Oh well...
- At least it looks like Alexandra had a real chance in that 2nd set, and gave the crowd a good show! A third set could well have resulted in a win for Alexandra! Even so: oh well...
- (By the way, Alexandra's Singles ranking can be expected to fall significantly, next week, from it's current 199, due to all the points from last year's magnificent run in Charleston coming off. But a nice run at Roland Garros, soon, could well get all those points back - and more!)
- Allez Fusai!
- There is GOOD NEWS in Doubles, though!
- Alexandra is teaming with fellow Frenchwoman Caroline Dhenin, and they are seeded #3 in the Main Draw.
- In 1st Round, Fusai/Dhenin faced the Wild-Card team of Anna Foldenyi/Virag Nemeth (both Hungarians) - and Fusai/Dhenin won: 6-2, 6-1. YEA! And impressive!
- In 2nd Round (the Quarterfinals) it was Fusai/Dhenin vs. the Qualifier team of Iveta Benesova/Lenka Nemeckova (both CZE). Another victory for Fusai/Dhenin - this time 6-2, 7-6(7-4). YEA! Even more impressive, in a sense!
- The Semi's, tomorrow, will be Fusai/Dhenin (seeded #3) vs. the #1 seeded team of Petra Mandula (of Hungary)/Elena Tatarkova (of Ukraine).
- This looks like it will be a good show for the crowd - and a WIN that Fusai/Dhenin can be very proud of! Then it will be on to the Final on Sunday!
- Allez Fusai/Dhenin! WIN and WIN AGAIN! And HAVE FUN!
- (By the way, Alexandra's Doubles ranking will fall, next week, from it's current 91, even if this weekend produces a Title, because of points coming off from Alexandra's spectacular run in Charleston (with Caroline Vis) last year. Oh well... No big deal. Again, Roland Garros can more than compensate!)
-
- Friday 4/11/03
- This week, Alexandra has been at the 8th Gaz de France de Bretagne in Dinan-Taden, France - a 50K+H ITF Challenger Tournament.
- Alexandra got a "wild-card" into the Main Draw, and faced another "wild-card", Virginie Pichet (also of France), in 1st Round Main Draw Singles.
- Well: Pichet d. Fusai: 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. Oh well...
- This looks like it was a great show for the crowd, and was actually much closer than the score indicates - especially the 3rd set. Some stats are here.
- At least: I hope it was MUCH FUN for everyone in the vicinity - and I suspect it was!
- Alexandra decided not to play Doubles this week.
- Allez Fusai! HAVE FUN!
-
- Thursday 4/3/03
- This past week, Alexandra has been in Casablanca, Morocco, Africa, at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem, a Grade V type WTA tournament.
- In 1st Round Singles Qualifying, it was Alexandra Fusai (unseeded) vs. Karolina Sprem of Croatia (also unseeded).
- Sprem was playing in her 1st WTA tournament, but had a streak of something like 28-0 in previous, non-WTA tournaments.
- Well, Sprem d. Fusai: 6-4, 6-0. Oh well....
- So then it was on to Main Draw Doubles. Alexandra teamed with Martina Muller of Germany and they faced the team of Tatiana Poutchek (BLR)/Anastassia Rodianova (RUS) - both teams unseeded.
- Well, Poutchek/Rodianova d. Fusai/Muller: 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Oh well....
- This was, clearly and obviously, a very exciting match for the crowd. HOORAY for that!
- Next for Alexandra looks like the ITF Dinan 50K+H, in France, Europe, which starts this coming weekend. Alexandra may be seeded in the Qualifying, or perhaps have a Main Draw placement.
- Doubles is unknown, but I hope likely!
- Allez Fusai! HAVE FUN!
- (This I do now, tonight, with very much hesitation, and with no idea how Alexandra feels about this, but I feel I must: I remember, vividly: FOUR DEAD IN OHIO! My knowledge of history, and I have some, tells me that countries which initiate wars ultimately learn that they should not have done so. Very simply put, a very few already very wealthy Texans will become enormously very much wealthier from this war, but many millions, of not-wealthy not-Texans, including not-Texan Americans, and also most Texan Americans, will suffer greatly, and perhaps die, because of it - especially not-Americans. Just my opinion..... This is a test of the "free-speech" nature of America, which existed even when, and after, those 4 HEROES died at Kent State over 30 years ago. Does free-speech still exist in this country? Well, we'll see....)
-
- Friday 3/21/03
- Alexandra is listed in the Qualifying at the Dinan, France, $50K+H ITF tournament, which begins 4/5. YEA!
- (Alexandra will be defending enormous points very impressively earned in Charleston, last year.)
- From a probably reliable source, there is info that Alexandra has received her France "coach's license" and plans to do some coaching of French Junior girls. Probably no one is more qualified and appropriate to do this!
- Alexandra wants to, very much, get into Roland Garros Qualifying - and do very well there this year (or so I've heard). This is very do-able, in my opinion!
- Also: I've heard that Alexandra, now that she is married, hopes to pro-create - I certainly have no problem at all with that!
- This site's #1 forever hope is Alexandra's max-happiness, always!
- Allez Fusai!
-
- Monday 2/3/03
- Well, the crowd had some chances to go "bananas" - but few chances to go "bananas+++". Oh well...
- At least I heard it was FUN!
- Today, at the Open Gaz de France (Paris Open), in Paris, France, Europe, 1st Round Main Draw Doubles, it was Schett/Schnyder (seeded #3) d. Fusai/Tauziat (unseeded): 6-2, 6-2. Oh well...
- It went like this (unknown who served 1st): 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6. Oh well...
- It took a little over an hour. The 5th game seemed especially long - but such things were hard to determine. The web scoreboard showed only the games score - no point scores.
- This was not an upset - seeded d. unseeded - no big deal. I hope it was great fun, and a very happy day, for everyone - including the crowd - and my hunch is that it was!
- Allez Fusai!
-
- Sunday 2/2/03
- Alexandra is starting her 2003 Tour at the Open Gaz de France (Paris Open) in Paris, France, Europe. (Or have I missed something?)
- Alexandra is playing Doubles only - teaming with Natalie Tauziat. First Round Main Draw Doubles, Fusai/Tauziat (unseeded) vs. Barbara Schett/Patty Schnyder (seeded #3), is scheduled for the last (6th) match on Court Central, tomorrow (matches are scheduled to start at noon, local time).
- Fusai/Tauziat have teamed before, with considerable success - LIKE WOW!!!
- Schett/Schnyder will be "expected" to win - but the crowd will go absolutely BANANAS when Fusai/Tauziat walk on at the start - then BANANAS+++ when FT take and hold a lead, and WIN!
- SS will begin "overconfident", ie.: vulnerable. When they see the threat, though, they will fight very "seriously" - the FT victory will be totally earned.
- Fusai/Tauziat can win this - and HAVE FUN doing it! And a crowd going BANANAS+++ is a GOOD THING!
- Maybe this is just a "lark", or a "sentimental journey", for one or both....
- Win, Fusai/Tauziat, WIN!
- Winning is FUN!
-
- Wednesday 1/1/03
- HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
- I hope 2003 is Alexandra's GREATEST and HAPPIEST year, in every way, so far!
- ALLEZ FUSAI!!!
- (By the way: tonight AF History 2002 is being posted, which is, as usual, basically just AF News reversed to chronological order, with some slight editing - a dramatic read?!.)
- (Also by the way: the match details from my notes, as well as pics from my cameras, from the 2002 Family Circle, are now posted.)
- (Finally, by the way, there are still about 100 AF pics, and some "movies", yet to be posted - "later this year". They are "found" and "contributed", but not created by me.)
